Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Closer to Completion

by Tray M | Apr. 21, 2008

THawk HDWhile it is certainly up for debate, there are many out there who feel that Super Street Fighter II Turbo represents the pinnacle of the storied fighting game franchise’s many iterations. I have feeling that most of those people, like me, are getting old.

The long-awaited high definition treatment of the game by is almost finished. The game will be available on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. All of the art has been redrawn by Udon Entertainment, who just so happen to be the company responsible for producing the US Street Fighter comics.

If you want to get your hands on the action a little early you can get into a limited beta by purchasing the game Commando 3. That beta demo will allow you to play as either Ken or Ryu only while Capcom stress tests the game’s network performance. I have no idea what Commando 3 is, but I’m sure a lot of us will find out sometime this Spring when Capcom starts the beta.Keep an eye on the Capcom Blog for more details.

Time to start dusting off my T-hawk chops.

Mortal Kombat VS DC Comics?

It appears so. Unofficial sources are claiming that the newest member of the Mortal Kombat family, Mortal Kombat 8, will feature some kind of Mortal Kombat and DC Comic universe cross-over. Exciting news for those of us that weren’t playing Marvel VS Capcom ten years ago.

I don’t have any idea how the two will be tied together, but I’m sure the conceptual wizards over at Midway will be able to give a valid reason for Sub Zero ripping Aquaman’s spine out.

Sonic Unleashed Trailer

by Tray M | Mar. 24, 2008

So after years and years of shame and failure, it appears that Sega might have Sonic back on track with Sonic Unleashed.

I say might because there is little most fans can give them in the way of faith considering how pathetically the franchise has fallen over the years. At least this gameplay video shows the main character running really really fast for once instead of trying to save anime j-pop princesses or whatever the hell his last 3D game was about. The furry fan-fic is almost writing itself at this point and it’d be refreshing to have a Sonic game that we could play without feeling gross.

“Another Metroid 2 Remake” But This One is Amazing

by Corbin M | Mar. 20, 2008

Very rarely does fanart, fanfiction, or fan-anything work out well. In those rare incidents, a few projects stand out amongst the piles of trash like Master Chief Goes to a Strip Bar with Sephiroth.

One of those special rarities is from a guy in Argentina going by the name of DoctorM64. He has remade Metroid 2 from the old Gameboy classic. Not only has he added beautiful color but there are moves and weapons that are up-to-date with the newer Metroid handheld games.

Check out his blog for detailed information on how he did it and how long it took, nice work DoctorM64!

New Street Fighter Movie is Going to Suck More Than All The Other Sucky Movies That I’ve Been Posting

by Corbin M | Mar. 19, 2008

Kristen KreukThe movie has been confirmed and so has the cast. Here is the cast taken from videogamer.com.

The story will revolve around Chun-Li, who will be portrayed by Smallville actress Kristen Kreuk. Also staring in leading roles are Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog, Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Taboo of Black Eyed Peas as Vega and Chris Klein as Charlie Nash.

With a cast like this, I’m sure they’re going to get some douche rag director to direct this thing into a wall. Kristen Kreuk will work well to play as Chun Li but at this rate, I’m only hoping that it be as cheesy and as wrong as possible, along with the likes of Akira.

On a shit note, it seems like they’ve also found someone to fill the spot of Bison. Now if we only had a Guile cameo by Van Damme, then this movie would be perfect.
