There is way too much anticipation among the public that this is going to be Godzilla. There’s also a flurry of self-proclaimed evidence on the internet saying that it is ‘Zilla. At this point, it would definitely be bizarre if it wasn’t Godzilla — it could even be a let-down.
As a nerd who loves his apocalyptic monsters, it would be so awesome to see something completely different and brand new, like this fan art. However, a big portion of myself along with all the crazy online evidence is led to believe it’s Godzilla. Look at this slow-mo video, you can see a right-leg of something that looks to have a T-Rex shaped body.

It can’t be Godzilla! Godzilla is copyrighted by Toho Co. Ltd. Also, in an interview, J.J. Abrams said he was looking at a Godzilla toy and said something along the lines of “Man, I have to create my own classic monster.” So I am guessing that it’ll have a great influence from Godzilla.
It’s not Godzilla. I hate it when people claim that it’s Godzilla. It’s such a cop out when people say that and it demonstrates how un-creative people can be. If it WAS Godzilla, they would’ve just called it another Godzilla movie and not gone through all this awesome marketing trouble to hype up another movie about Godzilla (considering, even, the last one sucked.)
I hope it’s NOT Godzilla but I think it is. The only one thing that this monster has that ‘Zilla doesn’t is smaller monsters. We know there are smaller monsters that terrorize the people.
I just hope it isn’t Mothra.
