Team Fortress 2 group pictureCorbin — After years of waiting, debating, and wondering, it’s finally here. Most importantly it’s here early. If you pre-order The Orange Box, you can download the beta for Team Fortress 2 this Monday the 17th. I am excited about the new art direction of TF2, I think it suits the essence of the game very well. I’m looking forward to seeing what the new features are and how the game play has evolved. This should be interesting seeing as how they’ve put a big emphasis on what made the classic TF popular but also throwing in new twists. Here are a few more reasons why I love Team Fortress.

  • Unintentional slapstick hilarity. I’ve had some of the most stomach-pounding laugh attacks with TF.
  • Outrageously chaotic online game play that still demands strategy and hand-eye coordination.
  • Back-stabbing people as a spy.
  • Camping the enemy’s respawn area with mind-altering bombs.
  • Whacky mods made by the community.

As you can see, I’m in it for more of the comedic aspects. For someone a bit more serious, here’s Tray!

Team Fortress 2 EngineersTray — As someone who played FAR too much TFC back in the day, I don’t know that I can completely convey how big of a nerd boner I have for the release of TF2. There’s been lots of debate on how TF2 appears to be diverging from the old tried and true formula of TFC and it’s precursors, but I’m not too worried. I think the new design looks fantastic and I’m glad that the Valve team appears to be focusing on the main thing that made the previous games great - pure chaotic hilarity.

Everything that has been released about the game so far has oozed the type of polish you’d hope to find in a game that’s been in the works, in one way or another, for almost 9 years. Hell, if the game is half as entertaining as the brilliant videos they’ve produced (Meet the Engineer, etc), it’ll be worth the wait. TF fans, new and old, rejoice!

Hammered Bros. will be participating in hosting mods, videos, and whatever other element we can lend a hand in for the old and new Team Fortress community.

Look for us both online next week as CorbinM and TrayM, Happy Blastin!
